Older Songs
I’ve been writing little esoteric singy-songs for about five years, and until now most of them have never really been put anywhere. I figure if there’s a place they belong, it’s here.
Just to be staggeringly unintuitive, these songs are in both chronological order and reverse chronological order. Basically I’ve divided them into sections, with the sections arranged backwards, but the songs in each section arranged forwards. I am complex and layered.
Just be warned that despite the lack of time constraint, most of these songs are every bit as rushed as the Daily Refrain songs, and that as you go back in time the quality of my singing and my music setup will decline sharply.

Stuff (2009)
Song About This
This song popped into my head, fully formed, just as I was going to bed. I quickly recorded it then and there (which is why my singing is so quiet). A video version with the lyrics is here.
Opposite The Spiral Clicks The Stereo
My friend did one of those Facebook things where you use random generation to create an album cover and tracklist (screenshot here). I decided to surprise him by turning one of the tracks into an actual song.
Here’s to you, Mrs. Ouroboros
The sequel to Song About This, and the result of a conversation where it was pointed out how many of my songs reference themselves. Video version is here.

Things (2006-2008)
Scorpions
A cute little song about cute little scorpions.
Everybody Loves a Beebeard (YouTube only)
Part of my half-assed campaign to weird out some Peace Corps volunteers for no reason. My first attempt was not received well by them, but this song seemingly was.
Good Night, Sweet Beebeard (YouTube only)
The campaign continues.
The Racist Song
This is an incredibly racist song.

Theme Compo (2007-2008)
Some musicians and I played a game where one of us would make up a song name, then someone else would spend around 15-30 minutes or so writing a song to fit it (they’d then choose the next name). Usually these songs were instrumental, but a few times I did lyrics.
01. A Trip to the Meat Factory
02. Guy Worthey in Space
03. Ass Invasion

Political Protest Songs (2006)
I don’t remember where the idea came from, but one day I decided to write a bunch of songs where the lyrics were pure nonsense, but sounded vaguely critical of some undefined establishment. Unfortunately, it later turned out that the great Neil Innes already did this 30 years earlier, and 30 times better.
The creation process for these was quite similar to Daily Refrain, only even more rushed (they were all done over three days or so).
1. Eternal Crown
2. My Integrity
3. Wake Up!
4. Beggars Belief
5. Concepts
6. Queeness*
7. Point and Laugh
8. Casta
*musically, the first half of this is one of my favourite things I’ve ever written

The Meinpenis Zeitgeist (2004)
My first proper foray into songwriting, and also my strangest. Rather than try to explain it here, I’ll send you to the album’s website here. May God have mercy on your soul. Content warning, obviously – though it’s much tamer than the theme would suggest.
