#17: “Vegetable Stew”
“I know it’s only breakfast time but I was thinking of veggie stew for dinner tonight. I’m currently off wheat and sugar so foods not as much fun as it used to be, but thank god for veggie stew. Lentils, barley, stock, potato, kumera, butter beans, kidney beans, carrots, and, of course, peas. Sometimes I add chick peas, but I really shouldn’t.” ~Fiona
Definitely the strangest thing I’ve received via the Suggest a song idea section. Whether it was a a genuine suggestion, someone messing around or possibly even a spambot, I have no idea – but I couldn’t leave it alone.

Love it! Very clever.
Hahahah, nice ending.
Brilliant! Three stars.
(out of three possible stars)
Thanks! You three are the three stars. (haw)
Also this song appears to be sung by the lovechild of Barney Gumble and Mr Bean
He he he
I’m pretty sure this is your most bizarre song yet, too. I love how tense you make things out of nowhere.
But what was with all of the religiosity?
Religiosity is not underlined by firefox’s spell checker? I don’t b
Also, at the risk of tripping the spam filter, I love how every now and then you write an unavoidably Nobuo-ish song.
AND FINALLY, what was the Barney Gumble/Mister Bean voice’s accent supposed to be?
Everything in the lyrics was derived from the wording of the letter – her saying ‘Thank God’ was enough to give me the religious aspect. I enjoy growing tiny seeds into tall ridiculoustrees.
(every single verse is just a direct retelling of the spoken word part – I didn’t think I’d be able to wrest a verse out of the sentence that’s nothing but ingredients, but I turned out to be wrong)
As for what accent I’m doing, I have no sodding clue at all. All of them, I think.
For some reason this reminds me of Tubular Bells…
Yeeaaahh! Fantastic stuff. It was a genuine suggestion by the way! Still off the wheat and sugar.. This song will keep me going though (along with the stew)
I love this one. Love it, love it. Genius. Such poignant words, Fiona, such great music Gwilym! And Fiona, keep up with the grain and sugar ban, the sacrifice pays off eventually.
